Sleepy Mama
I’m a new mom. I don’t have time to sit down and focus on my creative pursuits.
I used to enjoy playing music to myself alone at night.
And then I would sit for hours editing audio and creating videos. But sitting for hours doing anything seems impossible these days.
There’s laundry to be done, crying babies to sooth.
But I just learned a magic trick.
My baby stays asleep when I sing.
And I genuinely enjoy singing. A lot.
So much in fact, that I suspect that’s why I love spending all day with kids.
If I am a stay-at-home mom, life becomes a musical.
I am the soundtrack.
Motown songs during playtime.
Lullabies and symphonies at naptime and night.
At night I can sing.
I can truly sing from my heart.
I know what I need.
And I need what I need.
And I do need sleep.
But I’ve always had more than enough.
Yes I said it.
Enough sleep?
Yes. Enough sleep.
We’ve all been asleep.
Wake up your babies! It’s time to be free.
Stop sleeping so much!
