One day we’ll hug again

"One day we'll hug again"

He said as he walked out the backyard gate

We could use recycled materials to create toys for the children.

Every family has access to that

No need to send it to a facility

Toilet paper tubes?

Cheap jumbo coffee canisters?

Aluminum foil scraps

Keep em at home

Use em how you can

See if a local teacher can use em

(They probably can)

Make art with it

Seriously try. Why not?

Worst case, you throw it in the recycling bin

Like you were planning on.

I want to find people who disagree with play based education.

I'd love to talk to a principal who is inaccessible.

I want to talk to a teacher who hates teaching.

I want to hear their side of the story.

I want to hear from the parent who honestly doesn't really care.

What is your perspective?

I want to hear you.

Not to judge you.

But to understand you

If I don't hear you

How can I understand your perspective?

We may disagree

On the fundamental problems

And the "correct" solutions.

We may disagree on priorities.

But that doesn't mean I'm necessarily right.

Why would I be? I'm not the ultimate truth. I'm just a girl.

A pretty badass girl, to be fair

To be faaaair.

But if I can step into your shoes

And understand why

Then I can love

And stop blaming you

And stop blaming myself

We can stop demeaning each other

And start taking action towards real solutions

Name calling is just that.

Childish bullying

That distracts from learning and development

And namecalling can be powerful

And it is

It really is powerful

Powerfully debilitating

It teaches children that patterns of abuse are acceptable without consequences.

Can we just not?
